Guiding Every Child Toward Holistic Development
At Learning Lodge West, is it our goal to provide high quality care and early education in an atmosphere of love and respect that fosters growth. We view each learner as a whole child, striving to meet their intellectual, emotional, social and physical needs. As a team, we are committed to educational goals of excellence, which is why most of our teaching is based on two curricula: The Creative Curriculum and the Second Step.
The Creative Curriculum focuses on 38 research-based objectives that are most predictive of a child's future success in school. Our students learn social-emotional skills and work on physical, cognitive, and language development through investigations of specific items. The Creative Curriculum aligns with our age-appropriate developmental milestones, so every activity is aimed at furthering growth areas for your children. You can learn more about The Creative Curriculum at www.teachingstrategies.com.
Our Second Step curriculum is designed for students in Preschool 1 - K-Prep, and its purpose is to build skills for social and academic success. Each year, four units in Second Step help students achieve skills for learning (focus attention, listen carefully, ask for help), empathy (identify their own and others' feelings), emotion management (how to calm down when they have strong feelings), and friendship skills (how to make and keep friends and solve problems together). You can go to www.secondstep.org to learn more.
Teachers at Learning Lodge West receive ongoing training to maximize the benefits of the curriculum programs for their children and stay up-to-date with the most current and effective practices. Teachers communicate with parents weekly, sending home updates about what the students have discovered and practiced.
We are excited for your children to learn and grow here at Learning Lodge West. Thank you for the privilege of not only offering excellent care for your children, but also for trusting us to partner with you on their journey of becoming lifelong learners!
